The Mangystau Region and the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea form the geological exploration area of the Bolashak Project.

Project

Salkyn and Syrytau are the two prospective structures on which the exploration programme is focused.
The contract for hydrocarbon exploration and production at the Bolashak block was signed on 7 March 2025. An addendum to the contract transferred the rights and obligations to Bolashak Operating LLP.
The programme disclosed in KMG’s 2025 Annual Report provides for a 3D seismic survey and two exploration wells.

Integrated interpretation, geological modelling and uncertainty assessment prior to selecting drilling locations.
Exploration drilling
According to KMG’s 2025 Annual Report, the work programme provides for two exploration wells. Drilling of the first well, with a design depth of 3,500 m, is planned for 2026.
